ROXY ROCKED!

Fabulous memories were made on Sunday 26 September at ROXYfest ‘21, the Friends of Roxbourne Park’s Family Funday and Dog Show.

The turnout was amazing, the weather glorious and the atmosphere electric, with the local community enjoying a wide range of entertainment, including a Children’s Funfair, Live Music from several bands, a selection of stallholders provided by local businesses, Charities and Community Groups, an array of food outlets and a Dog Show sponsored by Medivet Pinner.

James Burgess from ElliotLee the main sponsor for the event said ‘’ElliotLee are delighted to have supported such a great day for the community around Roxbourne Park and it was nice to see so many people there on the day. A massive well done to FORP for organising such a fantastic event and we look forward to next years!’’

Friends of Roxbourne Park family Funday had been forced into a two year gap, so it was great to be back providing the local community with a day for all the family including fun for their four legged friends. John Hinkley, FORP Chairman said “We were so pleased to be back serving the community again, after all the challenges we have had over the last eighteen months”

The Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ghazanfar Ali, opened the event and met with many of the stallholders attending, later adding “A Joyful day out, attended by many families and children, young and old. Congratulations and thanks to the members of the Park User Group for organising such a successful event”

Live performances by The Flashback Band, Blues Measures and The Swing Street Allstars Band rocked the day and had audiences dancing in the aisles. There was an array of tasty street food available, from Cape Malay South African cuisine provided by The PotJie Man to Deep Fried Ice Cream from T's Fried Scoop, whose “Puppacinos” also went down a storm with the furry audience.

The Dog Show was the highlight of the day, with over 200 dogs entering six categories; ROXY Senior, ROXY Puppy, ROXY’s Waggiest Tail, ROXY Prince, ROXY Princess and ROXY Rescue. Winners and runners-up received rosettes and goodies bags provided by the sponsor Medivet Pinner, who also judged each of the categories. Reena Patel, Partner and Veterinary Surgeon commented “What a fabulous fun day we have all had, it was great to meet so many wonderful dogs and their lovely owners”

RSPCA, Harrow Mencap, Voluntary Action Harrow and Pinner Association were among the local charities and community groups who joined in the day. St John Ambulance crew had queues of people waiting for CPR training and even Pinner local police joined in the fun, hosting a police van tour for the children. Lois Swanger, FORP committee member and lead organiser of ROXYfest said “It has been great to see the local community having such a wonderful day and thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this day such a huge success”

ROXYfest ‘22 date will be announced in January 2022.
